Meet Lynnette Davis!

Another fabulous new Stash Girl!

I’m Lynnette and I’m from Texas.

I'm the kind of girl who can turn my stash into treasured works of art. I often make-do with what I have in my scrapbook stash when working on layouts. It challenges me and I loved being challenged. I have been scrapbooking since the 1900's. 1999 to be exact. And I will continue on with this self-expression for many more years to come. I am very passionate about photography as well and have been taking pictures ever since I can remember. I guess it's no question why scrapbooking fell into my lap and why I've enjoyed it so much. Scrapbooking and photographs go hand in hand. As does my love for Interior Decorating.
One reason why I don't get manicures....I've got ink on my hands more often than not. :-) I use ink on just about all of my work.

When are you most creative and why? I am most creative when a photograph sparks my interest.

Describe your style: For as long as I have been scrapbooking I can't say that I have one set style. I'm forever changing it up, forever evolving and I think I can honestly say that I've tried them all.

Do you have a craft corner, closet or room? With the collection of stuff I've endured over the years, practicality allows me to have a whole room to myself. :-)

Is that spot messy or clean? Depending on if there's company or not you will very rarely see my floor. However, I think that will change with this new year and new house we're about to move into.

3 random things about you
I gave birth naturally 4 times because I'm afraid of needles, yet I have 5 tattoos.
I was born and raised in Hawaii but I'm not a fan of seafood.
And I am very competitive but I usually only compete with myself

Meet Michelle!

Michelle Magana

Hi! My name is Michelle Magana and I am currently in Washington State, for now. I am a military wife, so home is where the Army sends us. I have been married for 13 years to my wonderful husband Jorge and we have two amazing children Isaac and Isabella. Scrapbooking is my creative outlet, an escape and definitely has helped me get through some of the hardest time's of being a military wife. Being away from home, family, friends and most of all my husband for long periods of time, this hobby has helped me open doors in opportunities I would have never had and meet friends I would have never met. So it's not just a hobby it has been a lifeline as well.
Contests/Publications: I have only been published in an E-zine ScrapStreet.com)

One product you cannot live without: Glue, without out it I would be nothing in scrapbooking.

When are you most creative and why? I am most creative when my kids are either at school or in bed. I need it to be some what quiet for me to be able to scrap. I listen to music or have the tv on.
Describe your style:
When I am not scrapbooking, you can find me cooking up a storm, taking pictures or watching my fave reality shows. I call myself "Jane of All Trades" because I like to dabble in a lil bit of everything. A do it yourself kinda gal and a bargain shopper. Having said that, my scrapbook style reflects my personality. I am not tied down to one style, I do what feels good at the moment. So my pages can be simple to elaborate, clean to grunge and everything in between.
Do you have a craft corner, closet or room? I share my scrap space with our computer room/ living room. I have a little folding desk that I can put away when company comes over.
Is that spot messy or clean? When I don’t expect company I leave as it is (meaning messy) but it is always picked up or things put away when friends come over. I have an Expedit that holds the majority of my stuff so it is very easy to clean.
3 random things about you:
1. I worry and stress too much about everything
2. I LOVE to cook and feed people
3. People always say how funny, fun, loud and crazy I am. But deep inside I am very sensitive and get very shy

Meet Audrey

Our third Stash Girl is Audrey Yeager.

I am a stay at home mom to 19 month old Charlotte, who is the sweetest little girl! I was formerly a high school biology teacher for 9 years. Hubby and I moved to Texas from New York about 3 1/2 years ago, and hope to get back home to NY soon!!! I love watching movies and going for walks to the park! I listen to hard rock music, and LOVE chocolate covered pretzels!

Publications: "The Big Kid Slide"-Create: Embellish, May 2011;
"10 Words"-Scrapbook Trends, May 2011
Contests (all of the following were contest determined by member votes): Scrapdango "Crowned" winner, March 2010. Trseasured Scrapbooking, "Treasured Hunt" winner, July 2010. Cocoa Daisy "Queen of the Crop", Nov. 2010.

One Product you can’t live without: I LOVE my thin black Zig pen. And my computer....

When are you most creative and why? I am most creative at night, after everyone is in bed!!!! I am definetly a night owl!

Other hobbies besides scrapping? I love photography, of course. I also love going for walks and spending time outside. I love to watch movies and cook and bake.

Describe your style: I would describe my style as contemporary. I like using new trends and ideas and new products. I like my photos to me the focus of my page, and lately I have been spending a lot more time thinking about my journaling before I begin a page. I love the color yellow right now, and on a lot of my pages you will see some doodling, outlining, and journaling with my thin black pen!

Do you have a craft corner, closet or room? One of our spare bedrooms is actually my scraproom. I am very lucky to have the space to use. The only bad part is that there is a really comfy bed in there, and sometimes (if the bed isn't covered with scrappin' stuff), I will lay down to "imagine" and plan some pages. OK, actually, I take a nap.

Are you messy or organized? My room is pretty clean and organized. I have been through many organizational plans over the years, and I am finally feeling comfortable with the plan I have going. I have to clean up my space and put everything back after every project or else I just feel too overwhelmed.

3 Random Things About You:
1. I went to an all women’s college (Wells College)
2. I hate beets
3. I can recite all the words to ‘Pee Wee’s Big Adventure’

It's a Party at Our Place!

Ready for some FUN challenges and interesting inspiration? Well, that's just what we have in store for you during the Stash to Treasure Grand Opening Party!

Stash to Treasure is our sister site offering monthly classes for the lowest cost out there! Every month, a new class is taught by a new teacher, and some classes offer a coordinating kit. This Grand Opening Party, though, is for YOU... subscriber or not!

Here's how it will work: Each day, Monday through Friday, we will post a new contest. Each Monday's contest will be the same type, Tuesday's will be the same, etc. You will have 3 days to complete each contest's criteria and be entered to win. Winners will be announced each Saturday for all contests that have ended.

Now, I know that's a lot of contests. It's also a lot of prizes! Not every day will require a project, in fact, most won't. Many of them you will be able to complete in 5 minutes or less.

Here's what you can expect each day, beginning on 1/3/11:

Mondays: Online Scavenger Hunt
Tuesdays: Create-a-Contest
Wednesdays: Iconic Inspiration
Thursdays: Share a Tip Contest
Fridays: Create-A-Project Contest

Does that sound intriguing? We will share more about how each contest works on the day it is posted. :)

See you in the forum, where all the fun happens!

More Color Combos Galore

Yesterday we introduced you to Color Combos Galore and this week's palette.

We have one more beautiful layout to share with you before we announce the contest!

Check out what Lynnette did with the palette!
So now its time for you to show us what you did with this palette.
I created this simple sketch based on the theme and the colors for this week.  You can choose to use it - or makeup your own!

Either way, you have a week to link up your idea!  You MUST use the Mr. Linky link at the bottom.  Deadline is Friday 1/14.  You can also upload the layout to the Color Combos Galore Ning site.

Two random winners will be drawn on 1/15/11.  We have 3 more palettes to feature this month which means MORE winners!

You also have a chance to win if you upload and tag your layout over at CCG.

Good luck!

Meet Bente Fagerberg

Our second Stash Girl this week.

Bente Fagerberg

Hi there. My name is Bente Fagerberg and I am so delighted to be a part of the new DT here at YSS. I am an exiled Norwegian living near Malmö in the south of Sweden.
I met my Swedish husband while at University in Bergen, Norway. We have now been married for over 25 years and have three gorgeous girls to show for it. They are aged between 10 and 19. We live with our new kitten in a house in the country where we watch sheep outside our window in Summer and right now we have a lot of snow!

I was a SAHM for the best 15 years of my life, and the last four years I have shared a wholesale business with a girl-friend. We sell accessories to ladies shops around Sweden. It is a lovely and independent job!!

Contests/Publications
I have not made a habit of submitting for publications or other, but recently decided that I would go for it. I had been told by other scrappers that I was good enough to give it a try.
I am very glad I did! I would very much like to be published in one of the scrap magazines. I shall have to start submitting to make that happen!
Lately I have been chosen twice for a feature at The Color Room.

One product you can’t live without: Right now I would have to say painted cardboard. I am having too much fun playing with it! I love all kinds of lovely colorful flowers and other embellishments too.
When are you most creative and why? I work best standing up at my scrapdesk. It's in the family room where I also have a lot of my stash, so I would normally be there scrapping along while the rest of the family watch tv.
I don't mind if it's day or night, as long as I stand at my desk I can scrap any time. It does help to have an inspiring photo though!

Describe your style: Ooh, this is a tricky one...Maybe you could say it's shabby chic. I like to use distressing on my pages. I like paint and cardboard. I love lace, buttons, and doilies. Flowers will generally find their way to my pages as well.
As I mostly scrap for girlsI I tend to use traditionally girlie colours, but sometimes I like to go out of my comfort zone and do something completely different. Mt style is not constant. Even lately I have seen a change.

Other hobbies: I love sewing and gardening. But I don't do a lot of that any more as I am so obsessed with scrapbooking.
Are you a messy or organized scrapper? I would definitely have to confess to being a very messy scrapper. With a work in progress it is mostly very hard (ie impossible ) to see my desk. It is hard enough to find a space for my paper!
3 Random things
- I am crazy about sports - almost all kinds of sports. I love it in Wintertime when there's a lot of skiing on tv. In January I am going to Italy to watch Milan play football.
- After University I only worked for one year with what I had studied! (Macro-economics and statistics,,....see why?...LOL!)
- I love opera!

Lets meet the new Stash Girls!

We'll post them one at a time to give them their own 'space'.  You can also view everyone's Bio on the About Us page.

Danielle Aubroeck

I am from The Netherlands. I'm a wife, mother and student and live to be the best in all.
Scrapbooking is the most rewarding creative hobby that I have and I
can't imagine my life without doing something creative. Documenting
and creating is something very precious to me.
Contests/Publications:
I havent shared my work before and just started my blog, but I'm excited for all to come.
One product you can’t live without: Stickers. I can use them on anything, any time, any where!
When are you most creative and why? During the day when they kids are in school, with a cup of coffee and my favorite music on.

Any other hobbies? I love to cook, travel, be active with my boys and go to the gym.

Describe your style: Layered and colorful!

Do you have a craft room, corner or closet? I have a little space for myself with a desk and shelves. I love my spot! It’s just a small area but I love how its min and mine only!

Are you a messy or organized scrapper? Its in sight so it has to be clean. But boy does that spot get messy everyday! LOL!

3 Random Things
1. I am a real girly girl and love my monthly day "off" to spend without my loud 3 boys doing all things to spoil myself. Eat chocolate, watch girl movies, doing my nails, go shopping etc etc
2. I am very open and sometimes tell to much and I am a soul searching person. I love to go deep within and find things about who I am.
3. I start a new journal each year to document that journey and am really excited to share this with all of you.

Happy Birthday!

TO US!

Thats right.  4 years ago I was laid off from my lucrative job in IT and during my 90 day layoff period, I came up with an idea.  I had such a hard time finding the products and lines I wanted to work with that I looked into buying an established online store.  When that fell through, I took some advice and figured 'Hey! I can do that!' and put my plan into action.

Now, 4 years later, I'm amazed at the growth and friends I've made.  I've had the opportunity to meet some fabulous people, designers and customers.

Without you, we wouldn't be here today.

So we celebrate you, our supporters this month!

January is a HUGE month around here.

Why?

1.  Its our Birthday but YOU get the presents!
2. A brand NEW Design Team
3. Stash to Treasure GRAND OPENING
4. CHA is right around the corner
5. Prizes to give away

You might want to stick around this month.

To get started, here is a coupon code.

BIRTHDAY25

That saves you 25% off your entire order with us.  Coupon is valid 1/3/11 through 1/10/11.
