Stash Faves - ATG Gun

Laurel here again with a quick post about one of my absolute favorite things in my scraproom that I couldn't live without. The best purchase that I ever made was that of my ATG Gun. It is so quick and easy to use with no mess or drying time. I have to say, if you are wondering if this is something you need, I think that the answer is yes!

A Scrappy Tidbit

I used to be quite happy in my 'box'. I created with items just how they came in the package and I was happy. Then I slowly stepped out of the box, I started by cutting images from my hoarded pattern paper, and now I am always cutting things apart. For instance take this Echo Park paper from the Splash Line:

I cut apart the journal card in the top left and used it as a title on my layout. I mounted some of the letters on foam squares for dimension. Love the effect.

Don't be afraid to cut things up and use them for things other than intended, the results are worth it and it is just so much fun!

Basic Grey *SWEET THREADS*

Oh, my goodness!

I was so excited when I got my box this month. Not only because I have a limited amount of time to create my projects this month due to my military move to Texas, but most of all because the goodies that were in it were GORGEOUS.

I ripped that box open like there was no tomorrow! I was so pleased to see the SWEET THREADS line from Basic Grey. I then proceeded to create a bunch of cards like a crazy woman. In a short amount of time I was finished and sitting in front of me were 5 cards. You only see 4 here cuz the other one is turned in for something else. ;p

Anyway, here are my cards.

I went a little butterfly and embossing crazy!

I used a mixture of cut up pattern papers, coordinating stickers, ribbons and journaling spots to create the cards. The colors in this line are just GORGEOUS.

Just in case you want to pick up the SWEET THREADS line, you can go HERE.
The store carries a variety of other embellishments that go along with the line and they are just so pretty and fun to play with.

Have a great day!

Scrappy Tips

Hey creative people! Let me share with you simple scrappy tips on how I created the above layout using FAB products ie: Jillibean (Dutch Mustard Soup) & Maya Road chippies (Green Thumb) that you can get at the YSS store. They went well perfectly. I decided to create a garden theme around the layout but using a non-themed photo. Interesting rite?

I started of with painting the MR chipboards. Painted them using the Jenni Bowlin Paint dabbers & also ink. It is so easy to just dab as they absorb pretty well. Of course, they are less messy too that way!

Photobucket
Chipboards are awesome to use as layering on your projects. It gives a very interesting dimension.

Photobucket
I always love to journal on my layouts. Journaling does not have to be long all the time but something you can look back & just smile someday :)

Photobucket
Ok, those line of dots are created by using tracing wheel. I emphasized those lines by using ink and a blending tool. Just to give a more define line. Lastly I just drip some mist around the layout. Yup, that's about it!

Hope these tips will spark ideas in you now. Happy scrapping :)

We'll feature more on them in July AND have a welcome Blog Hop.

A new sketch for you, from Sketchabilities.

Hi this is Bente!

I thought I would share a great sketch with you today, and the layout I made with it.

I was chosen a couple of weeks ago to be guest designer for the current sketch # 48 @ Sketchabilities. It is a sketch site run by Karan Gerber that has beautiful sketches and even keep an archive so you can go back and search for what takes your fancy!

I used patterned papers from the "Basic Grey" collection "Hello Luscious".
I chose a yellow and green scheme to make something that would look a little out of the ordinary. The collection has a great variety of beautiful colours. The green trim is also from the store, as well as the "Jillibean Soup" letter sticker sheet that I used.
This is the sketch. I think you can see the similarities.
I just love the little die cut shapes for photo mats.

My page is about how happy my daughter was when we visited my sister and Beatrice could say hello to her four horses. To her it was it was a little bit like heaven!!

I made a small collage so you can see some close ups too.

Thanks for looking. You are very welcome to see more on my blog:

Altered Hair Clip - Maya Road Zipper Trim

I got Maya Road Zipper Trim for May's DT kit and I wanted to make something fun out of it. And I thought of hair clip...how fun!

Here's how I created the flower out of the zip...

Photobucket
First separate the zipper, so you will get only one side of it. For the zipper flower I created, the length was 12".

'Photobucket
Then, just sew "slip-stitch" until till the end.

Photobucket
Once you get to the end, do not end your knot but to slowly pull the thread so the thread will gather.

Photobucket
Once you are happy with it, sew a knot at the end and cut off the excess of the thread. Next, all you have to do is to roll the zipper. As you go along, remember to adhere fabric glue/hot glue to secure it.

Photobucket
Sew a Maya Road Wooden Button at the top and voila... here's your zipper flower :)

Photobucket
Adhere the zipper flower onto the hair clip and you are good to use it!

Hope you will try this zipper flower. This is perfect for layout, card and of your altered projects! Have fun trying :)
