It's Friday!

Time for another sketch! This one was designed by the lovely Erica for your weekend scrapping fun!

Spooling Around...

Did you know that when you order Baker's Twine from the store, it comes on an adorable wooden spool? It's the cutest little thing, that Baker's Twine on it's own little spool. And check out the colors!

Recently, we asked our team to show you what they did with the spools that they received in their boxes.

Audrey stuck some straight pins into her bulletin board and hung the spools there. What a great storage & display option! Not only does she get to see at a glance what colors she has, but she also has her stash right at her fingertips. Just pull a little off the spool and cut to use.
Bente made some adorable bracelets for her girls using the spools as embellishments. After using her Baker's Twine, she slid the spools onto ribbon or lace, and embellished them. What an adorable idea!

Bente also used the spools with a bit of twine still on them to embellish a mini album!
Danielle used the spools as a decorative touch on her no-sew dress form. You can see all the directions on how to make this project HERE.
Here are a few more spool ideas:
  • Paint them!
  • Mist them. Most mists work very well on wood.
  • Add them to the tops of wrapped gifts. You could tie your package with twine instead of ribbon, and add a spool or two instead of a bow.
For more Baker's Twine ideas, there is a class coming to Miss Art's Papercrafting School soon that will feature it! If you love twine, this class will be for you. You can learn more about Miss Art's HERE.

You can use coupon code APRIL20 to save 20%! That means you'll be getting 3 yards of twine, on a spool, for just .80 cents!

Looking forward to spooling around,
~Alyssa~

Its 'SMASHING' baby!

I know its late but its been a hectic day.  We've been busy filling orders (thank you!), entering new product and reorders AND.......

getting the SMASH books and accessories uploaded to the store.  We have received confirmation from EK Success that these books will ship to us on 5/15.  Which means, shortly after that, we'll be shipping them off to you.

We do not expect them to stay in stock long so if you have your eye on one, please don't wait.

We have already placed a backup order with them so when they get their next shipment, we will get more. There is no expected ship date for that second order though.

So here is a little refresher on the SMASH books.

New Pre-Orders available.....

The Pre-Order section of the shop is filling up with some awesome mid-releases.

First, we have the new Sassafras Lass line Broadcast Sunshine.  This line combines two of my favorite colors : yellow and grey!

Basic Grey Sweet Threads - if you fell in love with Hello Luscious, you'll love Sweet Threads!

And finally......the one you've all been waiting for.  The Smash book.  Yes, we have confirmation that it will be shipping in the next couple of weeks.  We will be getting a limited quantity in our first shipment as EK Success had no idea how popular this was going to be.  We will get a certain number allocated to us and then the remainder of the order will come when they get their next shipment.  We will only list the quantity we know is shipping with the first shipment.

There is also a rumor they have more book designs.  Once I know more, I will add them to the shop.

Happy Wednesday!

Fussy Cutting Tutorial

Hi everyone, Laurel here with a fun tutorial on fussy cutting. Now I like copics, but I prefer paper piecing and fussy cutting my images out to mount onto a project. I get asked a lot how I do such ‘good fussy cutting’ so I am here to show you.

First of all stamp your image:

I then color what needs to be colored. Stamp onto pattern paper for paper piecing. When I cut them out I try to do the least amount of cutting and piecing so I think about how I can layer. You can see that here by how I cut out her top.

Adhere the pieces and then cut out the image. The tricky part is the part under her arms. I used to use my craft knife for those areas, and did have some success. However, I have since learned an easier way to do it.

I find a place that is a natural join and cut right through the image, making it easier to cut out the inside pieces. When the image is adhered to the project, you will not see these cut marks.

Now here is the finished product, can’t tell where they have been cut and the fussy cutting is much easier to
do!

Also, any rubons we were out of, we restocked those as well.

A Unique Combination

Hello! I'm Alyssa, and it's been a while since I posted here... so I thought it was about time! :)

In my DT box this month, I received a fun combination of products from Webster's Pages, and Fancy Pants. I was especially interested in this Brag Book from Fancy Pants (in the store now!):

Before I got started on it, I took a few photos of the inside for you. The book is a combination of journaling pages, pocket pages, and photo sleeves, and they are alternated throughout the book.
I wanted to create this as a baby book for a friend. I know her pretty well, and so I knew that she would enjoy having a place to journal about her thoughts about motherhood, the baby's routine, milestones, and other tidbits. So I knew this was perfect! I started with the cover:
Then, on the first page of each section (pages are rotated - about 10 journaling pages, followed by a photo sheet and a pocket page) I created a little title page. So now, each section has a specific time in baby's life that will be recorded within it:

Then I decorated each pocket page, keeping themes and seasons (corresponding to the age that baby will be at that time) in mind:
All the papers and most of the embellishments I used are from Webster's Pages. It's all in the store now, and coupon code APRIL20 will save you 20%. What will you do with your brag book?
