Are You Ready to Smooch?

Today I am going to get Smoochy with you. :) Smooch is a "is a pigmented, pearlized paint" and comes in a beautiful collection of colors. It comes in those cute little nail polish bottles, and does somewhat mimic the consistency of nailpolish as it is thinner than your normal acrylic paints. That being said, however, unlike nail polish - Smooch can be moved around like a normal paint. I love using it to enhance all sorts of projects because it can be used on virtually anything. A few ideas for you...

STAMPING: Simply paint your smooch onto your desired stamp, not too heavy, and then stamp your image. Clean-up is simple if you wipe the stamp quickly afterwards with a rag or paper towel. Then use your normal stamp cleaning method, no heavy duty cleaners needed!

FABRIC: Use a light hand when painting on fabric, because the color will bleed. I like to stamp using StazOn ink first, and then filling the image in, or use it like I did below, coloring in patterned ribbon.

GLASS or ACRYLIC: Again, I like to stamp with StazOn here, and then fill in. Using Smooch on glass does take a bit longer to dry, but the effects can be really cool. For a more stained glass appearance, use a light coat. For a thicker, more opaque appearance, use several coats while drying inbetween so that you maintain consistency in the color.

METAL: It takes a bit to dry on metal, but the overall effect can be really beautiful... for example, take a peek at this close-up from my "Begins and Ends" layout for YSS this month.

A few more ideas for using that smooch...
WOOD: Smooch can truly enhance the wood color for a fun, quirky, or natural look. Since wood is porous, you may have to use several coats in order to achieve a rich hue, if that is the look you are going for.

POLYMER CLAY: Bake your clay first, so that you don't get any bubbling during the baking process, and then paint just like you would with an other paints. Seal if desired!

WATERCOLOR PAPER: What fun this is! You can either water the Smooch paint down for a lighter version, or use as is.

The possibilities are endless with Smooch because it can be built up for vibrancy, or simply a thin enhancement! So go on and get Smoochy... it is SO MUCH FUN!

Misting and Masking...

Hi! April here with some fun misting and masking tips today.

Yes, this is something I can do again and again, and again. Simply because it is so FUN! Today I am going to share the fun with you, using Maya Road mist and chipboard keychain.

1) Take out the chipboards from the ball-chain, and arrange them on the cardstock. Here I chose to play with Basics from Basic Grey.
2) Hold the bottle about 6" above the cardstock, and start spraying over the chipboards. To add more fun, you can unscrew the cap, hold it and splatter the mist a bit here and there.
3) Let dry, then remove the chipboards.
4) Now you have a custom-made patterned paper.
5) You can use these chipboards as masking again, arranging them in different ways, and using different colors too. I love the misted chipboards which can be used on other projects.
Here is the layout that I created using my new patterned paper. There are many new mist colors in store, hope you have fun playing with the chipboards and mist too!
Don't forget to enter our two ongoing contests. Info is HERE.

Another Friday! Yeah!

It's Friday!! It's also my daughter's 5th birthday. HOW in the WORLD does 5 years go by so quickly? I remember scrapping with her in the baby carrier near my feet, and it seems like yesterday.

Anyway, I finally did it... I learned to create a sketch in Photoshop Elements. So, here is my first ever photoshop created sketch... exclusively for you!

Yes, I admit it, the photo is totally staged. I begged my son to peek through the leaves so I could take a photo. But it was worth it, and I am not apologetic at all! So cute...
I used BasicGrey's Oliver collection, some Maya Mist, and Tim Holtz' Tissue Tape for this layout, and it's all in the STORE right now!

Don't forget to upload your take on the sketch to our gallery for a chance to be chosen as next month's feature member! :)

July Gallery Recap

Here are some of my favorites from the Design Team Gallery for July.

Here is the Slideshow:

And of course, you can visit the gallery to see more and get a list of products and techniques used.

Alyssa played with some of the new October Afternoon

April is always mixing lines. She used some Cosmo Cricket Delovely, Making Memories Panorama and Basic Grey Basics. Its always fun to see how she mixes different lines together.

Heidi got a bunch of the Graphic 45 papers to use. Their papers usually stump me but I LOVE what Heidi did with them.

Lady Grace mixed some Cosmo Cricket Delovely, Teresa Collins and Prima together to make up her colorful gallery. She also uses Shimmerz product on most of her layouts. Check out the store to see the selection of colors we now carry.

Susan was all about the Prima this month. This is one of her favorite manufacturers.

Valerie used my new favorite - Echo Park. She did such a great job of using these papers that most of her Gallery is out of publication! She still has a few things in there to inspire you though.

Lisa Truesdell was busy with CHA projects and didn't have much time to work with the kit we sent but she's been busy this past week finishing up some things for us! She'll have more to share with us this weekend. Also, make sure you check her blog for her giveaway. She has 3 - $10 Stash Cash certificates to raffle off.

Time to pick a winner!

And the winner of the Sketch Contest is.....

Based on this sketch from Liz.

Keeley Yowler! Congrats Keeley! A prize pack is on its way to you! Some of the other finalists the DT had to chose from:

Play with Backgrounds!

One of my favorite things to do lately is play with creating my own backgrounds. With a sheet of cardstock and some mists, there is so much you can do! This is one of the first backgrounds and layouts I created. There is some Prima here, and some Teresa Collins.
A few days ago, I created these backgrounds with my mists, some paint, and some doodling pen. You just need to dive in and have fun! There is no right or wrong and almost nothing is unusable, so just do whatever pops into your head.
I used this background:
To make this layout:
This layout uses lots of Teresa Collins, found in the store, and ON SALE!, right now.

Happy creating!
