Weekly Sketch

Another Sketch to get you inspired this week. It features one 4x6 but a 5x7 would work great too or you could even shrink the sketch and do a 6x12 or 8.5x11 page.

The Sketch:
My example: Featuring Heidi Swapp butterflies but the Maya Road keychain ones would work great too. I also included an Elle's Studio journaling tag. They are great for that finishing touch.

Elle's Studio

We figured it was a good time to post some of the favorite layouts using Elle's fabulous products.  I've sent the Design Team several packs to work with over the last 2 years and here are some of the fun things they've done with them!  Make sure you pick up some to use on your next card or layout!!

To see more projects using Elle's tags, do a search in the Gallery.  You're going to love looking through the many pages of ideas.

Remember, you save 15% off your entire order this month by entering the code ELLES15 and if you buy 3 packs of tags, you get one free!  (One per customer please.)

New Product

I feel like this poor blog just isn't getting the attention it deserves!

We had several new boxes of product arrive today.  We're still busy trying to get it all uploaded but for now, here is what you can find in the NEW section.

My Minds Eye Boo To You and Spiders Web.  One cute, one spooky line.  (I told you I ordered stuff for everyone!)

I've already started working with the Spiders Web line to make a really cute house.  I'm hoping to finish that up this weekend so I can post it next week.  I've gone overboard on the Halloween projects this year but I'm in love with all of the lines this year!

Check out pictures from the MME booth in the CHA Gallery to see closeups of the papers and layouts.

New Basic Grey Indian Summer is the first line to arrive here at the Stash!  Once again, BG hit the ball out of the park on this line!  The colors are fabulous and the line is versatile.  Need some BG inspiration?  You can check out the CHA Gallery here or the recent Basic Grey Contest we ran last month.  A million and one ideas to be found.

The canvas line from Prima did so well at the last show (and by the three reorders we've placed!) that they released more items for your canvas wants and needs.

This time, its in the form of refill pages for that cute little canvas album and iron ons!  Really!  Iron-ons.  I've already tested one of these bad boys and I'm going to need more!  Just a note - we DID order the new blue leather album they released but its backordered.  Once it comes in, we'll let you know.  The 6x6 canvas refill pages are for that book, not the 8x8 canvas one.  Need to see more, check out the CHA gallery here.

Don't forget, you can save 15% off your order when you use the code ELLES15.  Pick up any 3 of Elle's Studio tags and receive a free pack! (Code is valid until 9/30/09).

Happy Stashing!

Meet Alyssa

Our other Guest Designer for September.  I really couldn't chose just one person this month so I went with two!  I've been coveting Alyssa's paper cutting techniques for a while now.

I am a SAHM with 2 kids, Milena is 4 and Elijah is 2.  I have been married to my husband, Don for 5 years, and we live in Central Indiana.  I started scrapping 4 years ago when my daughter was born, and it's been my only consistent hobby ever since.  I have never loved any hobby like I love this one.  I enjoy the connections, friendships, products, and of course the finished layouts.

Contests/Publications

I have been published many times in Scrap n' Art e-zine, but so far no paper pubs.  Guess I should submit some layouts if I want that to ever happen, huh?

Favorite products or something you can't live without.

Patterned paper.  I very, very, rarely make a layout without it.  I am also addicted to alphas and can never have enough of them.

When are you most creative and why?
Whenever my children are occupied or sleeping!  Those hours never seem long enough.

Favorite manufacturer?
For paper, probably BasicGrey or Websters Pages.  For alphas, American Crafts, Pink Paislee and BasicGrey.

Any other hobbies besides scrapbooking?

I also read and cook on occasion.  My husband and I also enjoy entertaining and having friends in our house.  I enjoy hosting crops, but that's not "besides scrapbooking," is it?

Describe your style.
My style is eclectic and widely varying.  I enjoy clean and simple as well as messy and heavily embellished.  What I end up with usually depends on the products that are inspiring me that particular day.

Messy or organized scrapper?
Very organized.  I can't think in a messy space.

Where do you create?  Do you have a room, corner, designated spot.
I have a corner of the living room.  It's not my ideal, but WAY better then storing everything in the closet in totes!

Favorite color combo.

It changes all the time!  I just love color.  Right now I am enjoying grey with a bright color.

Favorite non -scrap related store to shop at.

I love the one-stop shopping of Meijer!

And don't forget to stalk the NEW section of the store this week.  We have a TON of things coming in......

Elle's Studio Summer Mini Book

If any of you are like me then you have tons of Elle's Studio tags in your scrapbook supplies. This summer Elle is showcasing a fun summer mini using her tags on her blog. I have been following along and hope you are too. Go here to see all of her Summer mini posts so far.

Cover: For my cover I choose to use a 6x6 chipboard album by Maya Road. Check out all the fun albums Erica has in stock over at the store. I left the cover plain like Elle did but added some paint streaks, a summer tag by My Minds Eye, a Prima flower and some bling.

Page 1 (The start of Summer): For me that would be camping on Memorial Day weekend. I choose 2 photos just like she did and used a County Fair journaling tag to tuck behind my photos. For my tag pull I added an old calendar tag and covered up the year so I could use up some of my Stash. On the side I added some embellishments and a date/place tag instead of a flag.

Page 2 & 3 (An event you attend): I choose to do my page about our trip to the Alamo. I used a kraft Note tag and used the ribbon and Vintage tag cutouts to hold my brochure and extra photos. I used staples to attach it using the new Tim Holtz Tiny attacher.

Page 3 &4: (Use a large photo for your page)
I choose to do my 2 page spread about our family vacation. I enlarged one photo to fill the right side and added my title. For the left side I used Vintage cutouts and County Fair tags.
Page 5: (Flowers)
I too added a page to my summer mini about how beautiful the flowers were this year. I used a Vintage cutout and some Making Memories Mini Alphas.

Page 6: (A funny Story)
I too wanted to add a funny story to my book. I used the Bird Note tags and a date tag to make a mini page to hold my story.

Page 7: (Treats or Favorite Restaurants)
I loved these little icecream cutouts so I too wanted to include them on my page. I found a picture of my daughter and I enjoying our favorite summer treat and added a Vintage cutout tag to include my journaling.

Page 8&9: (Another Trip)
I wanted to add a few more pages to my mini so I did one about our trip to the beach. The flashcards were perfect for this. There were so many to choose from including sand, sunshine, ocean, and more!

Page 10: (Something Special)
For the last page I wanted to include something very special that happened to our family this year so I included an ultrasound picture of our daughter to be this September. Thought it was a perfect way to end the book and the summer!

Thanks Elle for the great Summer Mini class! I hope you too had a chance to follow along and if not still make sure to check out the class on the blog and all of her cool new tags in the store.
And during September, when you order any 3 Elle's Studio items, you'll get a free pack!

Its time to meet....

One of the two Guest Designers for September.
Please welcome Avina to the team this month.

Avina joins us form Singapore.

Hi! I am Avina from the sunny little island of Singapore, married with a toddler who is often the subject of my scrapbooking endeavors!
Favorite products or something you can't live without.
Stickles!! They instantly glam up ANY layout / card with minimal effort.  A little goes a long long way so they are worth the investment!

When are you most creative and why?
At night.  When the baby sleeps and when the housework is done!

Favorite manufacturer?
That's a difficult one to choose.  But I'd say that I love MME for their versatility, quality and range of products! Webster Pages for their good-enough-to-eat patterned papers.  American Craft for their Thickers and Ranger for their mediums!

Any other hobbies besides scrapbooking?
Believe it or not, I love the "technical" part of figuring how to make envelops, embellishments and such  from scratch!

Describe your style.
Honestly, I would say it depends and it has developed over the years.  I probably do detailed layouts better than simple ones and bold colors are definitely a big thing for me.

Messy or organized scrapper?
Messy when scrapping but after every few projects, I have to do a massive clear up to "discover" new stuff I have forgotten about! LOL!

Where do you create?  Do you have a room, corner, designated spot.   (You can attach pictures if you want)
I create in my craft room come study room which I share with my husband.  Most of my stuff is displayed on a IKEA shelf and some hidden in the built in cabinet.  I'm a huge IKEA fan (as you can see) but where else do you find such great stuff that isn't too expensive?  I also use lots of Daiso ($2 shop in Singapore) products that make sorting and organising such a breeze!

Favorite color combo.

Depends on the mood!  But black, white and red never fails to stun!

Favorite non
-scrap related store to shop at.
Daiso!  Great place for organisational things and things to alter and craft stuff! All for $2 an item! (PLUS near my fave LSS!)

Avina's blog will be posted on the sidebar all month long!

Stash Faves - Special Edition

So waaaayyyyy back in January, I worked out a deal with Elle from Elle's Studio where the Stash would be her sponsor store for September.  It seemed like and eternity before September arrived and now I look back and wonder where the year went!

So, September is here and we are proud to sponsor Elle's little shop.  Actually, its not so little anymore.  I remember buying tags from her before she even had her own site.  She started on Etsy and grew!

I love stories like this.

And the timing was perfect!  She JUST released her new holiday tags on Monday and we'll have them in stock tomorrow!  Isn't that awesome?  She always outdoes herself in the cute department.

In case you are sitting there wondering just *who* Elle is, check out her blog and website.  You can order directly from there but we also carry a variety of her items.  We have a sale on right now where you get 15% off your entire order and US customers get free shipping on orders over $30.

And during September, when you order any 3 Elle's Studio items, you'll get a free pack!

So, not only are we sponsoring Elle this month, she also has the extremely artistic and talented Christine Middlecamp Guest Designing for her this month.

You can see why Elle's Studio is one of our Stash Faves!

So check out the NEW section of the store for all of the new items and pick some up today.

And this isn't the only announcement we have this week.  We still have to announce the winners of the 5 Gallery Contests, the Pink Slice Winner and the Guest Designer for September.

Oh, and we'll be posting the Facebook winners tonight so if you're a fan, make sure you check tonight to see if we drew your name.  I've been cutting little strips of paper all afternoon!  If you aren't a fan, click on the Facebook link to the right and become one!  For every 100 fans, we'll draw 10 names and they'll win a little something from us!

Happy Stashing!!
