Wednesday Update

Lots of little things to update you on today.

First:

If you aren't already a Facebook fan, head on over and 'Like' us.  We hit 1200 fans yesterday which means there will be a giveaway announced tomorrow.

Also, we asked our fans what kind of classes they'd like to see at Miss Arts.  If you aren't familiar with Miss Arts, its an online classroom.  Alyssa, our fabulous DT Coordinator, is the Headmistress over at Miss Arts and she has an incredible lineup of teachers and classes.  We're looking to find out who and what you'd like to see at Miss Arts.  What kind of classes or techniques.  What instructors.  So head on over to Facebook and leave us a comment.  We'll close comments and draw a winner after midnight (Wednesday). One person will win a Miss Arts kit!

Product Update:

We have our Jenni Bowlin order arriving this week.  If you pre-ordered Jenni Bowlin products, they will begin shipping out.  We will be adding the Jenni Bowlin Re-Inkers to the shop.  We know you love her ink pads and now you can re-ink them!

Upcycled Hairband Tute

Heya! Today's second "Two Scoops" post is to share the fun things you can make using your regular scrapbook stash! needless to say, scrapbooking supplies are so versatile, you don't need them just to create layouts or cards, the can be used for to make really fun accessories!

And I did just that, using my Maya Kraft Doily, handmade flower embellie, some glimmer glam, and some ruffled ribbon!

The supplies that you will need : glue gun, Ruffled ribbon, handmade flower embellie, hairband, Maya Road Kraft Doily, Spritzer

First, using a glue gun, glue the ribbon down the entire length of the ribbon

Next, dab glimmer glam all over the doily and once it's dried, using a spritzer, spritz water to scrunch up the doily

Adhere the handmade flower (you also opt to use Prima flowers ;)) the the doily

Scrunch them up. This is what it'll probably look like

Adhere the newly formed flower on top of the hairband

and voila, the finished product! I have also added a couple of flowers from my craft supply for a more feminine and full feel ;)

Materials from YSS: Maya Road Kraft Doily, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam, Making Memories Trims - Orange Ric Rac

Other Materials : Glue gun, handmade flower, paper flowers, hairband

Altered Mini Album

This is the first day of a new feature we are bringing you in September (yes, we're starting just a bit early!) called "Two Scoop Tuesdays."  That means that every Tuesday in September, we'll be posting 2 fantastic projects, tips, or tutorials for your inspiration and enjoyment.  One post will come in the morning, the other in the afternoon, so check back later for your second scoop.  :)

Hey hey! It's me again. I am back to share with you a fun step-by-step of making a mini album. I wanted to make it a mini one this time round and guess what I found... a card case. Thought it would be totally cool to fit a mini album into a card case! Let me show you how...

Here's the card case I was talking about. Basically you can work with any card case, mine is an aluminum one I got at the dollar store :)

 First, I cut a strip of 3.5" x 12" kraft cardstock. Then I kept scoring at 2 1/4" as I go.

You will get an accordion album with 5 panels & also the lil flap at the end.

Next, I took out Tattered Angels Mist for some fun. I used two colors Chalkboard, Firefly & Glimmer Mist, Rum Punch. For this I used a negative of a foam dots as my stencil.

Here's the effect of two colors. Lovely isn't it? I also inked the edges and the scored lines. Once you are done, you can start to embellish the card case and also the accordion album :)

 Ta daa....

A perfect mini to remember a fun day! Totally cool for a summer project & also for using up those stash :) Adore those Crate Paper chippies & alpha sheet!

Remember the lil flap? I decided to punch it and it acted as a closure.

Here is how it looks inside. I used the Crate Paper - Neighborhood collection. You can get them in the YSS store and it is on sales too :)

Close up shots:

Hope you enjoy this step-by-step and have a good week everyone!

Please Welcome Valerie Bishop!

Today we have a special treat for you!  Not only are we bringing you two posts, but both of them contain great tutorials!  Scroll down for the other post after checking out what this month's guest designer Valerie has created.

Hi there, Valerie Bishop here!! I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to be a Guest Designer here at yourscrapbookstash.com because Erica and Allysa are two awesome ladies to work with!! I couldn't wait to see what products I got to use and I was so happy to have some October Afternoon Boarding Pass to use for my projects. For my first project I made a 2-page layout of a recent trip my family and I took down to the coast of Mississippi - my hometown of Ocean Springs!! We learned about an awesome BBQ place on the Food Network and went to check it out! Not only was the food delicious but the restaurant was full of some funky cool stuff!

For the flower embellishments, I decided to make some of my own layered flowers similar to the ones that I've seen for sale. They are so easy to make and you can make them to coordinate with any patterned papers that you are using!

All you need are two scalloped circle punches in various sizes (I used a 1 1/2" and 2 1/2" sized punch), some tape, some buttons and various twines or flosses.

Cut one large scalloped circle from a piece of patterned paper and one smaller scalloped circle from a coordinating piece of patterned paper. I then inked the edges of my punched circles - but that's totally optional.
Using one foot of the twine (or floss), tape one end to the back of the smaller punched circle
Start wrapping the floss around the scalloped edges going back and forth across your circle
When you completely wrapped your flower, tape the end to the back of the punched circle and your top flower is done!

Now, you simply layer the entwined circle on top of the larger punched circle using a glue dot (there will be plenty of dimension with all the twine under it) and then top it with a button! You can also just choose to use the smaller flower without layering on top of the large one - either way looks great!
So simple and fun!! I hope I've inspired you to make your own layered flower embellishments!! Have fun creating!!

Come back Thursday to see more of Valerie's Guest DT projects.  You can also see more of her work on her blog:

{Summer} banner

I've got this thing with banners. I love 'em. I make one for every occasion. I've made 5 so far this year. I do think I ought to slow down, though. There are so many a person can display and/or store. AND, when a piece falls off of one, my dog is quick to eat it. That's a fail, for sure.

Anyway, I knew when I got the Maya Road strawberry coaster album in the your scrapbook stash store that I had to make a banner with it. It'd be cute, sweet and summery. That meant I had to pair it with the Echo Park Summer Days papers.

Help it out with some Tattered Angels glimmer glam and it's fit for summer.

Dress it up with tulle, buttons, vintage pieces and Studio Calico notions and it's ready to be displayed!

{Sorry if you think photographing in the grass is a bit odd. i thought it seemed very summery and that it accented the colors nicely!}

Product Updates

Here is another product update.  You can see Wednesdays update here.

As you can see, we have a ton of new product slowing rolling in.

Jenni Bowlin - our order is due to ship from them early next week.  There were two ink pads that were on backorder (Weathervane and Robins Egg) and they were expecting to get them in this week.  I know we were out of some  of the new Paint Dabbers and Ink Pads.  We reordered them and they will ship with our original order on Monday.  Quantities have been updated in the shop for all ink and paint dabbers.

Pink Paislee will be shipping next week as well.

Crate Paper is due to ship around 8/25.  Once we have a firm date, we will update everyone.

Studio Calico - we received an email from Studio Calico stating that their shipment has been delayed by a week so that means our order will be delayed as well.  As soon as we have a shipping date, we will update everyone.

Again, we appreciate your patience while we make sure the orders go out.  We have pre-orders and regular orders that we work on every day and those are the priority right now.  We know everyone wants to get their orders in a timely manner and that may mean, emails and other fun things take a back seat for now.  Also, since it is summer, we are on a shortened schedule but will return to normal the first week of September.
