Technique Tuesday

Hello scrappers, today I want to share a technique I often use.

Do you find it hard to find a matching cardstock or background paper for the beautiful collection of papers you just bought?
What do you do?

I make my own.
HEre's what I do:

1) First, I take a piece of white cardstock. Perfect canvas for any project.
Then I use a plastic knife and swipe on some gesso randomly.

2) See, you get some textures with the knife.
YOu can use anything you want to apply the gesso.

3) Next I dilute some acrylic paints... here I want to use some greens to bring out the tone of pinks in my LO.
As I brush the diluted paint on, I use a kitchen towel on the other hand to wipe it off. This take the intensity of the paint off a bit. It is ok. I like the washed look.
Work section by section and soon you cover the entire 12x12 cardstock

It will look something like this. I left the middle portion untouched because i know that's where I will put my cluster of papers and embellishments. Save my paint! LOL

Next to use it more definition, i use Distress ink to brush the edges... and over the page too.
My fave has got to be this new color: Victorian Velvet

And with the background paper done, I went on and add the rest.
See how the green background brings out the pink paper.

Hope you like this technique.
Happy scrapping!
