Sneaking in.....

Its been kind of crazy around here with all the orders and new products coming in.  I feel like we haven't done a proper post lately showing off the new stuff.

Here is just a quick look at some of the new stuff we've received in the last few weeks:

Echo Park Country Drive is arriving on Monday.

How about some new Bakers Twine colors?  Two new ones.  Plus we restocked the other colors.  Please note, we will be discontinuing the older colors of twine.  Its the original colors (green/white, red/white etc)  They are all on sale now so stock up!

Using Raw Chipboard

I wanted to share with you today a few ideas for using and slightly altering raw chipboard.

I have a ton of raw chipboard in my stash...I love all the different shapes and sizes! Most of the time I cover it with paper or mist or paint it, but recently I have just loved the color of it raw. So I am going to share a few ways of slightly altering raw chipboard.

On both of the pages below, I used Maya Road doiliy flowers in different size.

On this layout called "Free Ride", I stamped on the chipboard with Versamark Ink using an old Prima stamp and then I heat embossed with some clear embossing powder. (Papers are Studio Calico State Fair).

I love the subtle pattern, texture and sheen the embossing gives but still allows the raw chipboard to show through.

On this page called "3 Little Monkeys", I used three chipboard pieces and did a different technique on each. (Papers are Lily Bee Happily Lost)

This large one I used for my title I dry embossed with a TIm Holtz embossing plate and then inked the raised surface a bit with some black ink. I also took a black marker and went around the outside edge to make it stand out a bit more. Again, you can still see the raw chipboard.

This piece on the bottom I stamped with a text stamp, but then wrapped the chipboard with some embroidery floss. I basically just poked a hole in the middle and ran my needle with thread through over and over again. I coverd the hole with a layer of buttons.

So next time you want to add a little texture and dimension to your pages, break out some of those chipboard shapes and let their natural beauty show! :)

Friday Sketch

Another Friday, another sketch! I still very much in love with banners and hence I created a sketch with banners. Hope it will spark some mojo for you :)

Here's my take:

I used the beautiful LilyBee Designs- Picket Fence collection and also Jillibean Corrugated Alpha. The purple and green just perfect!

Stash Faves Echo Park Playground

Hi there, Laurel here to share some of my Stash Faves. I am absolutely loving anything that Echo Park comes out with! Today I want to highlight the Playground paper pack.

It was perfect for some of these old photos I had of my daughter and now they are finally scrapped! The banners have been cut from the pattern paper, adhered in some places with a glue dot, sewed along the top and some of them are curled up for dimension.

I decided to make a card as well. I cut the camera out of some of the pattern paper and mounted it on a foam square.

SMASH Book Challenge

This is a big one.  You should have your Smash books by now and if not, they are on the way to you.  We have shipped all pre-orders now.

I want to know what you're doing with them.  Its time for a Smash book Show and Tell.

You have until June 30th to post links to pages in your Smash book on THIS post for a chance to win some serious Stash Cash and a Prize Pack.   We will pick two random winners from everyone that joins in.

Here are the rules.

1. Must be your original work.

2. Smash books can be the actual EK Success Smash books OR a handmade Smash book.

3.  Handmade Smash Journals can be bound any way you want.  (Office Supply Binding, O-Wires/Bind it All, Cinch, rings etc.)

4. All entries must be posted in the comments of this blog post (the one you're reading now.)  Your comment must contain a link directly to your Smash book.  If its on your blog, it must be directly to that blog post.  If its in a Gallery, it must link to your Gallery posting.   If you do not have a blog, you may post them in our User Gallery and link them up here.

5.  Entries must be posted no later than midnight PST on June 30th.  We will announce winners on July 1st.

6. Anyone can enter.

7.  Books can be any size and contain any line or combination of lines.

8.  If you are waiting for the 'real' Smash books, we have a reorder that will be on or around June 10th.  You will get them in time to participate.

Prize Pack will consist of some of the brand NEW Smash items (release in early July) and a gift certificate to the store.
