Little Letters

I love little alphabet stickers. There are so many that the Your Scrapbook Stash Store offers that sometimes it is hard for me to choose. (I usually just end up getting all of them, lol!) They come in all sorts of shapes, colors, sizes, and fonts. There are many uses for little alphabet stickers too! Such as:

• Add a description to your photo
• Make a list
• Adding extra words to your title that may not fit with bigger letters
• A fun way to make your title more interesting by using more than 1 medium
  
• Highlight words in your journaling
• Mini Albums (you knew I would say that, didn't you?)
  
• Tags and Cards
• Name tags and place cards

Tuesday Tip

Fast and Simple Gift Mini Albums

I love to make mini albums for gifts, they make the perfect baby shower, bridal shower, mothers day, etc gift. They are always a big hit and don't take alot of time or supplies to assemble.

Steps:

Cut 2 6x6 pieces of chipboard. Cover them with patterned paper or cardstock

I like to make these albums for baby showers. If I know the name of the baby then I choose a monogram letter for the first name. You can use shipboard or cut one with your diecutting machine. Tie a ribbon around it and then mount on cardstock block. Adhere to front cover.

Use your bind it all or binder rings to bind it together.

Cut 6x6 pages from Patterned paper (I love this size because I can get 4 sheets from every 12x12 piece of paper.) Then I cut blocks of cardstock as the mats for the photos all the same size and fairly close to 4x6 size. This way the person receiving the gift doesn’t need to be a scrapbooker to put the photos in it. For this album I chose to go with 4x5 blocks that way the photos wouldn’t require a lot of cropping.

Adhere photo blocks to top of pages alternating colors. On the inside back and front covers adhere a journal block or subtitle.

Adhere a simple journal block or diecut under each block. If making an album for a baby shower I like to use journal blocks that let you record weight and height of the baby for each month. Theresa Collins and Elle’s Studio tags I know has tags like this.

Decorate with rhinestones, flowers, chipboards pieces, ribbon , etc for the finishing touches.

Give your new mini album as a gift and they will be bound to love you forever :-)

Hi everyone and a little bit about me... Well I'm currently working in Singapore with my hubby of almost 2 years (3 more months to go before our 2nd year anniversary), however, I am originally from Bangkok, Thailand and have been in Singapore since our marriage (we figured it was best to meet half way as I'm from Thailand and he's from Belgium).

2. How long have you been scrapping?

I've been scrapping for a little over 2 years now, but really got into it when I relocated to Singapore (from Thailand) for work mid-2008; it just so happen that I got an apartment next door to one and so couldn't resist spending all my time there and becoming addicted to this hobby.

3. Favorite manufacturers?

American Crafts, Lily Bee and Collage Press

4. Products you can't live without?

Pattern papers (as this is usually the source of my inspirations), cardstock, mist, flowers, punches and thickers!

5. Messy or organized scrapper?

Would say that I'm an organized scrapper - love the clean lines.

6. Do you have a scrap room? Closet? Corner?

As much as I wish that I had my own scrapbooking room... my space is pretty much the little table and the area around it in our living room, but in a way, I can watch TV and also bug my hubby as I scrap. Also given that I am more of a hoarder than a scrapper, I have totally filled our storage room with all my yummy goodies and just super excited about my latest organizer... a clip it up... finally I can see what I've hoarded.

8. 3 random things about you

I had worked as a chemical engineer for a few months before switching over to IT consulting (which I have been doing for the last 10 years). I must have visited over 20 cities and countries in Europe when I was working there for about 2.5 years. And I have over 60 cute little pomeranians running around back home in Thailand.

9. Do you have any other hobbies?

Well there is shopping, eating out, and sleeping; if those qualify. I also have a dog kennel (thus the 60+ doggies) and every now and then (and when I'm back in Thailand) I would be standing on the side line cheering on my dogs as they compete.

10. If you could be anywhere right now where would you be?

Anywhere... I would love to be back in Tuscany, sitting on the hill top in one of the small towns and sipping on wine

It's Friday, my favorite day of the week! Time to inspire you with a new sketch.



Here's my take on the sketch:

My Mind's Eye "Quite Contrary"

Let me tell you, I love these "Quite Contrary" papers from My Mind's Eye. I had the opportunity to work with these particular papers in April and they were just perfect for pictures of my little boys and our family outdoor adventures. The store here at YSS carries these products and so much more. You're going to love them!

Here are a few of my favorite LO's using this line:

Technique Tuesday

Paper Poppies!

I originally found a similar tutorial on the talented blog of Helen Croft. She is the flower making queen.

Here's what you need:
-2 different circle sizes, scalloped
-foam tape
-pins dipped in paint



1. Fold each scalloped circle and adhere at the bottom.


2. Glue the smaller folded circle into the larger one.


3. Stick 2 or 3 pins into the foam tape.


4. Stick that foam tape inside and your done! Pretty cute, hugh?

I have a couple of challenges for you and you'll have until next Friday to get them done. I even have prizes for those of you who can't follow along with the challenges.

Challenge #1

Create a layout/card based on one of the many sketches we've posted. You can find these in the Sketch Gallery.

Challenge #2

Scraplift a Design Team Member. You can view their amazing work HERE.

Challenge #3

Clean your scrap space! Post photos on your blog, Flickr or other online photo account. You MUST post before and after photos.

Challenge #4

Create a layout based on a song. Use words from that song in your title or journaling.

Challenge#5

Create a Then/Now layout. Scrapbook a photo of you, your spouse, your dog, kids etc. An old photo with a new photo.

Rules:

- All layouts/cards must be posted by midnight May 7th, 2010. You must upload them to the User Gallery and then link them up to Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. The only exception to this rule is the photo challenge. if you want to upload them to the User Gallery you can. These photos can be posted anywhere online as long as there are before/after photos.

- If you do the sketch challenge, you MUST use one of our sketches. Do not use a sketch from another source.

- One winner will be chosen from each Challenge and will receive a prize pack and Gift Certificate to the store.

- Please email any questions to admin (at) yourscrapbookstash (dot) com.

- To use Mr. Linky - Enter your name and the URL to where your layout is hosted. If it is in our User Gallery, you need to click on the layout/card and then copy and paste the link here. If it is hosted elsewhere, you will need to do the same. Just copy the FULL URL into the link area.

Just to make this different, I did a 8.5 x 11 layout using the gorgeous My Minds Eye Love Stories line available at YSS Online Store. I love how the pattern was printed over the kraft background paper. So trendy!
