Thursday Faves: Glaze!

Check this out!

The fabulous DT gals did something really fun and unusual this month!  We did progressive layouts!  What does that mean?  Well, it's a concept that Heidi Kelley and I (Alyssa) can up with nearly a year ago.  We were joking about a layout Heidi was stuck on, and she remarked that she should just send it to me to finish.  The idea stuck, and we completed out first progressive layout soon after.

The basic idea is that one person starts a layout, and sends it off.  Then the partner finishes it.  It's so much fun to see the end results!  Today, I want to show you a few of the layouts the girls created, and next week I will show you the rest.

The first one I have to share today was started by April and finished by LG. This is what April created:

How totally cute and fun is that??  :)  April send LG a gorgeous framework, and LG's materful touches brought the whole thing together beautifully.  I love how LG choose to use two photos and how she worked with the gorgeous vine April chose.  The pair used a combination of BasicGrey, Jenni Bowlin, and Making Memories, available in the store!

Next up, Sue sent a layout to April to finish.  This is what Susan sent:

So many gorgeous details in this layout.  Sue chose a great color palette, and a clean design, and April added complimentary colors and completed the layout perfectly- in her unique style.  So beautiful!  These two ladies used October Afternoon, Hambly, Maya Road, and AC Thickers, all in the store!

Finally (for today), this is a layout started by LG and completed by Sue. This is what LG created:

Wow, so many stunning details in this layout.  I just love all the feminine touches and the layers that both Sue and LG masterfully created.

Tuesday Tips: Lettering

Ever been working on a project and just didn't have the right lettering?  I think we all have!  I was at a crop this past weekend and I created this card using the new BasicGrey Curio (on preorder now!).  I wanted it to be a Thanksgiving card, but none of my Thickers were small enough for that long word (it was a sad moment).  The only letters I did have that were the right size was these rub-ons.  But they were white and weren't going to show well on the striped paper.  So I outlined them.  

Outlining is an easy way to add character and definition to an element, without adding bulk or anything else from your stash.  You can make things easier to see, add a shadow, or even just visually separate two elements by outlining them.

Is it Monday again?

It IS!

That means in exactly a week, we'll be watching LollyChops teach us how to alter these cool Kaiser Wreaths.

The Class is scheduled for Monday, November 15th at 7:30 Central time.  (Thats 8:30 eastern and 5:30 Pacific).

If you can't make the live class DON'T panic.  This is a recorded class and will be available for the next 6 months on our new Ustream Channel.  If you are already a subscriber or you subscribe this week, we will email you the link and password to access the class.

I wanted to give everyone the specific details of the class and kit.  Kits are available in the shop for purchase.  We have a limited number ready to ship now with more supplies on the way.  Since this class will be recorded, the kits will be available for a while.

To access the class, you will need to purchase a subscription to Stash to Treasure for $5.00.  Since Lolly is an extra this month, that means you get access to Jamie Dougherty's classes as well.  (you can get her kit in the shop too!)

Now here's the fun part!  If you want to work with one of the other two wreath's from Kaiser, we have them in stock.  The Holly wreath:

Are both available.  You can mix and match these with your favorite line.  And if you're not a fan of the Basic Grey Jovial we use in the main kit, you can purchase the Funky Wreath that Lolly uses and pick another line to work with.

Friday Sketch

Hello everyone!!!

Weekend is here again! Ready for some scrapping? Here's a I did sketch to inspire you jumpstart a layout!

My example:

A few months ago, my daughter started attending school. She was 2years and 2 months old back then. Despite her very young age, the school administrators found her ready and appropriate for Nursery. She was interviewed and observed for a couple of days. Luckily, she passed and is now attending Nursery Level 1.

We have never thought that she will grow up this fast. She still looks like a baby but her communication skills and behavior says otherwise. She speaks in sentences already, she behaves like a 7yr old kid who knows how to follow instructions, she is very artistic and her retention skills amazes me. We are really so proud of her.

I made this layout to tell a story about how she have grown and how she became an A+ Student in our eyes.

 I played with the scalloped journaling spot circles here and made it look like a flower. I just love the colors of this journaling spots. It was perfect with the School Spirit line.

Tuesday Technique

Today, I would like to share with you a very simple technique to add a little something to your cards. Pop up cards have been popular for years, and are so easy and fun to make.You might recall doing this in school during your younger years.

Step 1 on your card base, create a rectangle in the center of the fold line. The length of your line will allow to create different distance view of your pop up elements. Experiment is the key.

Step 2 Using a craft knife or a scissors, cut along the longer lines.

Step 3 Then fold this inwards, opposite the original fold as shown below

Step 4 Adhere the card base to another sheet of card or paper slightly larger than your base. This will become the front and back of your card. It will also cover the rectangular hole that was made.

Step 5 Now just create your “pop up” design, and attach it with strong tape to your folds
