CHA Update Day #1

There are so many new things in great colors and cool schemes coming out that it was hard for me to narrow down my favorites! As I am sure it will be for you too! So what's your favorite? Leave a comment on this post telling us what your favorite new product or line is for a chance to win some CHA goodies!!!

One of my favorite new paper lines coming out is by Cosmo Cricket. I just love all the soft colors and cute little birds and mushrooms of Earth Love. I think the paper would be great for all types of pictures from Fall to Spring and from Baby to any age. Here are a few sneaks at the line:

And of course I love everything new by Pink Paislee they are one of my favorite manufacturers. The products by them that I am most excited about is all of their new alphabets. There are new glitter chipboard letters to cardstock stickers to cute little circle mini alphabets. Check out their reveal on their blog here.

And who doesn't love Stickles or how about the NEW DISTRESS STICKLES??? Because I know I sure do! Check out these colors? What's your favorite new color? I think I would have to go with tattered rose because it would look fabulous with the new Earth Love papers.

I also have always loved the defined stickers by 7 Gypsies. So happy to see that they are coming out with a few new ones. I think the baby and retail therapy are my favorites.
And lastly if you have little girls this new line by Fancy Pants is too cute. I love the pink with the purple and yellow. Actually I love everything that Fancy Pants comes up with.

Make sure you check out the gallery all week to see more reveals uploaded from Orlando.

And of course don't miss out on the BIG S.O.S Sale this week the 20% off code is good until 7/31. That is 20% off already reduced merchandise and new products. So get your orders in for the best selection! Remember, free shipping on orders over $30.00 for US customers only.

A day late.....

*** ETA: we will fill as many orders as we can before we leave. If your order has not been filled, it will be filled as soon as we return. I get home Thursday night and will resume filling orders Friday. The coupon code is good through 7/31/09. Orders are filled in the order they came in and will ship out USPS Priority mail. ***

But you guys kept me hopping all day long with the orders! I'm trying to get them all (or as many as I can) filled before I leave Monday morning. I still have to do laundry, pack, set up the to do list for the big man and make sure my little man is all taken care of next week.

And the orders! Wow! You're cleaning us out! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I love when piles of paper get smaller, when boxes of embellishments empty out and I can visually see the inventory going down. Yeah!

So, in case you're reading this and asking yourself 'Whats she so excited about?'

Well, two things.

First, the big 20% off sale. If you aren't a newsletter subscriber, you probably missed out. I waited to post this until the newsletter fanatics out there got a chance to order. On top of our already low sale prices, we're offering another 20% off your order total. So you can save 20% off anything in the store thats NOT on sale AND another 20% on top of the sale prices. So if you see something for 25% off in the store, take another 20% off that!

Here is the LINK to the newsletter in case you want to read the entire thing. Its quite riveting.

We also said we'd announce the next contest on Friday. So we are a day late posting that. Sorry.

Mini Album Contest

* Deadline August 20th *

* Upload any mini album to the gallery by the deadline to win a prize package from the store.

* Album can be any size 8x8 or smaller.
* Odd shaped albums ARE allowed.
* Handmade albums are okay. I know some people have a Bind It All or some other binding device and you may want to use that.
* There is no theme. It can be anything you want it to be.
*Winner will be featured on the blog, in the weekly newsletter and on the Home Page of the site during September.
*Please make sure this is an original design and not a scraplift. List all supplies used in the description area when uploading. Please also include your username.
* Don't forget to upload your pictures to the contest gallery and no where else. This is the only place we look when going through the entries.

Stash Faves - CHA Edition

I'm sure you've seen some of the Sneaks circulating on the net.

We've been busy compiling them as we find them in our CHA Preview gallery.  We've set up a folder for each manufacturer and added sneaks as we've found them.  And guess what?  Some of these lines haven't been shown in their entirety yet!  Like Jenni Bowlin......  So head on over to check those out!

To read more, you can use the links on our sidebar (to the right) to visit their blogs.  Some of them have started posting layouts and cards made using the new lines.

We'll continue to update until we leave for the show.  THEN, keep your eye on this gallery during the CHA Supershow next week to see pictures from the tradeshow floor.  Because of speed issues, we'll be posting the videos when we get back.  (My wireless connection just can't handle that!)

And a little hint about next week, you're going to want to be here every day as the Design Team posts here about the new releases, what they're looking forward to getting and a few little giveaways!  You know we always come home from the convention with lots of stuff to give away.  So stay tuned!!

We've already started ordering the new product too!  Some of it should be arriving as we leave for Orlando so look for the announcement when we get back that the new stuff has been loaded to the store.

New metallic pearls in Christmas colors. Red, Gold, Green and Silver. They are going to be the perfect addition to your layouts and projects this year. This is just the beginning of the holiday goodies coming to the Vintage Shoppe.

Technique - UTEE

Hi, for today's technique you will need:

1) chipboard

2) Clear UTEE

3) Embossing ink pad/Versamark or Gluepad

4) Heat Gun

5) Your kids' toy (a train or car)

For most LOs including my husband, I try not to go for the girly look. And I try (my best) to add some texture or boyish features.

Here for my chipboard. I paint over them.

Once completely dried, I press them onto the embossing pad.

And I pour CLEAR UTEE over it.

Heat it with a heat gun.

While it is still hot and the UTEE still soft, run a toy train/car over it. we want the 'tracks' marks on the chipboard.

And it will look like this. My train 'track' is not so rough... so I get smooth lines. Which is fine!

And I used it on this LO: my girl went for a bike ride with daddy.

Hope you like it.

Stave Faves - Cutting Paper

As I was typing the Stash Faves for last week (link to B sides), I remembered another bit about paper.

I mentioned in the last Stash Faves about bold prints and asking yourself what you would do with something like that. How about making your own embellishments? I love using the premade embellishments that come with the lines but every once in a while, you run out of what you need. Back with chipboard or pop dots to give them dimension. Add Stickles for a glittery look. Those diamonds in the Cosmo Cricket papers would be perfect for backing a title. Check out some of these bold prints.....

Have you started your Christmas cards yet? I did! I used the cute trees and snowmen from the My Minds Eye papers. Mix with cardstock and ribbon and you have a cute, easy card!

Flowery paper is perfect for cutting. Make your own paper flowers without a diecut machine. Not every one of us owns one. Layer the cut flowers or add Stickles, rhinestones - anything - to the centers!

Didn't get your hands on those really cute butterfly paper clips from the MM Flower Patch line? Make your own! Cut one of these glittered butterflies from the paper and glue to a standard paper clip.

How about making your own borders? Don't have one of those handy dandy border punches? You can make your own. These papers make great borders. That Making Memories paper has several scalloped edges that you can trim and use.

So, the next time you see bold or bright patterns in the store, don't be so quick to pass them by! Its an embellishment waiting to happen!!

July Guest Designer - Anna Tremblay

I am a SAHM of 2 beautiful boys and 2 border collies. I currently live in Bakersfield, California, originally I am from Northern California.  I spent most of my 20’s moving around... I have lived in Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, California and Texas. I am a scrapper who loves Mixed-Media.  I have been at this for 2 yrs now. Before that I was a quilter.  My grandmother taught me how to crochet at age 7, that’s when my craftiness was realized.  I am 38.

1. Contests/Publications - I have never tried.....

2. One product you can't live without?  I am not sure I can pick one..... so I’ll have to go with “Fabritac”.  It’s an adhesive.  I really love how this adhesive will work on any media - paper, fabric, metal, plastic, acrylic, and what I love most about it is that it makes my project very stiff.

3. When are you most creative and why? I am learning that I have to be creative all day - everyday. Otherwise, I fall into a rut, it’s almost like falling off the wagon.  If I am not creating something, then I will be gathering data for a future project. i.e. I have camera in tow.... click, click, click

4. Any other hobbies? I like to call it motherhood :)

5.  Describe your style. Extremely Eclectic, almost gypsy like.  I am all over the spectrum, I can be cute-sy, traditional, bohemian, vintage, unconventional etc... but most of all I like to try and be edgy.  I’ll try anything, at least once.  :)

6. Messy or organized? Way too Messy!

7.  Favorite color combo?  I live in the moment. I try to listen to what color speaks to me at that very moment.

8.  Favorite manufacturer? It’s a tie... 7 gypsies and Tim Holtz

9. Favorite non scrapbook related store to shop at. A very original answer I am sure...... Target....

10. 3 Random things about you. (one)I am a completely random person. (two) I don’t like pink, but have been known to use it in a layout. (three) I grew up in the Garlic Capital of the World! (Gilroy, CA)

11. Links to blogs or other online galleries.

Technique

Last week June gave us a tutorial on using Maya Mist.

I tried it too. I have 1 variation to share.

I used a Sizzie die cut as a mask.

Then I filled in the parts (without the mist) with Glossy Accent. This gives it such a nice dimension. Or you can fill in with Stickles, like I did with the flowers.
